I'm Too Busy To Workout

I worked out this morning, earlier than I usually do.

Walking around Soma VT, I had a member who has been with us for a while mention something to me.

You’re way more chipper than you usually are.

Once I moved on from being wildly offended that I’m not always the friendliest and most energetic person in the room, I realized that perhaps the reason I was coming off in a more positive light was due to waking up and getting a good workout in before the workday.  As a strength and conditioning coach, I’m not too proud to say that this is a rare occurrence.

I get to spend a lot of time around people in my line of work.  These conversations lead me to believe that many of us are going through big changes right now.  Many have been recently laid off, or are starting a new job or trying to pick up a new habit.  Priorities have changed and people have gotten busier.

Many of us have multiple jobs or responsibilities. Many of us are taking care of elderly loved ones or getting married or raising children.

As life asks more of us, we generally ask less for ourselves.  Lunch breaks get shorter, afternoon walks disappear and health can deteriorate.

If you’re reading this and you’re anything like me.  You’re doing fine, you’re working hard.  Take some time for yourself and enjoy it.  It’s well-deserved!
